Go for it, Guys!

The nose piercing has generally been regarded as a feminine piercing, but today's culture allows men to be more expressive with their fashion options, and many men are choosing the nose ring or stud to complete their look.  In the 70s punk rock era it wasn't uncommon to see women and men with all sorts of facial piercings, particularly nose piercings. It was taboo, it was rebellious, and it challenged stereotypes.  Mostly commonly today, men are seen adorned with a simple silver or gold hoop but who's to say a man can't wear an amethyst, sapphire, ruby, or any other...

June is Pearl Month

June is Pearl Month

June is pearl month - let's celebrate these lovelies! The pearl is one of the birthstones for the month of June. Most months only have one stone that represents it but June is lucky enough to have two. Prized for their lustrous beauty, pearls add class and distinction to any wardrobe. The OHM cartilage hoop is newly created as a hoop but is much loved...

Working with 2mm Stones

Everyone knows them and loves them - tiny little cabochons that add a splash of understated color to your piercing. There are occasions when wearing a larger stud is fun and times when small and simple fills the need. I've avoided working with 2mm cabochons for quite some time. They're so tiny and harder to set than their larger counterparts. The bezel cup must be worked over the stone all the way around in order to hold the stone in place, and naturally, this is more challenging with a tinier stone. But I'm finally ready to start making them regularly. 2mm...

Some History on Nose Piercing and My Personal Journey

I thought I'd start off this new blog with a post from my old blog about my personal experience with getting my nose pierced. I love my piercing and the variety of little works of art I make for it! I'm glad to have a chance to share it with all of you :) Besides earlobe piercing, nose piercing is the most popular style of piercing. It is an ancient style of piercing, dating back to approximately four thousand years ago, and it has continued to grow in popularity over the last few years in mainstream society. Most piercings I saw as...
