Packaging Thoughts - Where the Tins Are Headed

It all started when my most recent batch of tins arrived - and I wasn’t happy with them. The quality wasn’t what I expect for Rock Your Nose Jewelry, and it made me take a step back and think about packaging in general: what’s working, what’s not, and how I can make it better.

That’s what led me to post the photo of my silver, gold, and black jewelry tins and ask what everyone preferred. The feedback was incredible — most of you loved the black tins, a few leaned toward gold, and some mentioned that you already have quite a collection of my tins at home (which honestly made me smile).

The tins have always served one main purpose: to protect your handcrafted nose jewelry on its way to you. But they’ve also become part of Rock Your Nose’s signature experience. Now I’m exploring a simpler screw-top tin design — clean, unbranded, and easy to re-use. My hope is that these tins can have a second life: holding small keepsakes, gifting tiny treasures, or just being something you’ll enjoy keeping around.

For me, great packaging should do two things: keep your piece safe, and make it feel special from the moment you open it.

For now, the plan looks like this:

  • Black tins will remain my standard. That was never in question, actually! I'm going to experiment with the screw top unbranded tins and see what everyone thinks of them before using up the remainder of my good branded click-tins, if I ever do.
  • I have some gold tins on hand and am open to your requests for them with your orders. If it goes well, I'll keep offering them.
  • I’ll keep refining the details until it feels right.

Thank you for being part of this process and for caring about the details right along with me. 🖤
