One of the Coolest Things I've Ever Made

Sometimes a customer will ask for a specific thing and it becomes one of the coolest things I've ever made. That was definitely the case with this piece.

I had a customer ask me if I could make a hoop that had a little loop on it so a stud could go through it. I'd never seen something like that or even heard of it before, but it sounded really neat and I thought I'd "give it a go".

On my first try, I made a little circle out of wire and formed a hoop out of the 'tail'. I didn't love it. I wanted it to be nice and round and symmetrical, so I made it using two pieces: a circle ring of sterling silver, with a straight portion. I soldered them together and I loved it! Success!!

Next I thought about what could make it even cooler, and it didn't take me long to think double it up! The next piece I made was done with two wires to create a double look ring.

Any of my studs that are 3mm or larger work really nicely with this piece. The stud portion hides the open circle part and the two pieces together make it look like a ring with a decorative stud. The nice part is you can change up your look frequently.
